AKP deputy disagrees with abortion ban

from Justice and Development Party (
AKP),
Nursuna Memecan, has said that
the current situation with regard to
abortion is OK, and that banning
abortion would bring huge damage, daily Hürriyet reported today.
"If there is an increase in Caesarean
sections, we should raise the awareness of the public about
the benefits of normal delivery. We should also raise awareness about
the reasons and consequences of abortion ... If abortion is banned, it is
not going to end the practice, but it will continue in illegal
ways," Memecan said
