President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky began talks in Ankara on Wednesday.
The meeting is expected to focus on bilateral issues as well as the latest developments in the Russia-Ukraine war, including efforts to revive the Istanbul process, establish a ceasefire and work toward a lasting settlement.
Zelensky announced his visit earlier this week, saying Kiev was preparing to “reinvigorate the negotiation process” and had several ready proposals to present to partners. He said ending the war remained a priority for Ukraine and that accelerating prisoner-exchange efforts was also on the agenda.
As part of his visit, Zelensky paid tribute at Anıtkabir, the mausoleum of modern Türkiye’s founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Accompanied by his delegation, he laid a wreath at the tomb and observed a moment of silence.
