Türkiye, Egypt call for Islamic world’s unity over Israel's Gaza plans
CAIRO

Türkiye and Egypt have called on the Islamic world to demonstrate unity and solidarity to support the Palestinian cause and deny Israel’s plans to take control of Gaza at the expense of blatantly violating international law.
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan was in Egypt over the weekend to hold talks with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty, in the city of New Alamein. He was also received by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
The main issue the top diplomats discussed was the latest plan announced by Israel for the occupation of Gaza.
“The Netanyahu government has taken a new step and declared its intention to fully occupy Gaza. We categorically reject this plan. This plan is a new stage of Israel’s expansionist and genocidal policies,” Fidan said at a joint press conference.
The Islamic world should act in unity and solidarity while pushing the international community to get mobilized against Israeli plans, Fidan informed that they decided to invite the Organization of the Islamic Conference for an extraordinary meeting.
“We will defend international law and humanitarian values in the strongest way against Israel’s genocide policies,” he stated.
“Palestine belongs to the Palestinians. Attempts to expel Palestinians from their own land are null and void and doomed to fail. We, as Türkiye and Egypt, will continue to stand against these scenarios."
The Turkish top diplomat also underscored the importance of continued humanitarian aid to Gazans and expressed his gratitude to Egypt for its role in delivering assistance to the civilians in the enclave.
For his part, Abdelatty said he discussed with Fidan various ways to halt the violations committed against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, including Israel’s systematic starvation policy and acts of genocide.
He stressed that Israel should lift all restrictions on the five crossings linking it to Gaza, in order to allow the entry of humanitarian and relief aid into the enclave.
The two ministers also expressed satisfaction over the improvement of bilateral ties as they mark the centennial of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Egypt.
